

Almost all the people suffer in one way or another due to the unprecedented disaster of covid-19’ Every day the positive tested people are on the rise and the spread is on the rise in rural area also. Not like in cities, rural areas are not yet properly reached on covid-19 campaign activities. A lot has to be done still, including reaching out more people of Relief supplies and long time recovery steps for the affected people. Keeping social distance, wearing face masks and using sanitizers are still alien to the people in the villages and hamlets. Without knowing the danger, they face to themselves and other, they keep crowding in public places, markets and worship areas. Life is still not normal even after lockdown and daily workers, migrant families and vulnerable communities are the worst hit. Still starvation looms large in many of the families. They have no savings with them and even in good times too their wage is hardly enough to ware off starvation for the entire family including the aged, the sick and the children.
Now the situation is horrible as they extend their hand to others for their Daily food. DOVE is helping these people with rice and other essential like groceries from their own resources and organizing help from local donors. But more relief help is needed to provide dry ration kits to a number of families living in utter poverty. Gradually long-time recovery is also needed to stabilize their income and restore their earning opportunities.
Development of village education is a non-governmental organization, working in the southern districts in the state of Tamil Nadu in India. It was founded in the year 2000 with the vision to support marginalized families to reach comprehensive developments with regard to education, health, women empowerment and youth welfare. The current activities include children’s educations programs, community health care, livelihood support and disaster management. Concentrating its presence in rural villages children from poor background are organized and helped getting access to quality education through running of formal school and nonformal education centers in rural area. By under taking activities toward education of children and higher education of youth in the target area for two decades, a strong foundation is laid by this organization for the bright future of the children from poor background. Programs are carried out to address drop out problem in a number of villages, covering the southern districts of Tamil Nadu. DOVE children’s Home has been in existence since 2000, and hundreds of children from marginalized families are well taken care off till they complete schooling and ultimately higher education. The core activities include delivering proper medical care both preventive and curative in the project area with the help of DOVE health center and a well-developed network of outreach health programs. In every target villages, women self-help groups are formed and trained on savings and credit with an aim to achieve women empowerment.
