As scheduled, People Behind DOVE had our get together on the 21st evening around 7pm and it was attended by all the board members except the treasurer. The meeting was arranged precisely to discuss, to analyze and to evaluate the outcome of 14th January celebrations - the Tamil New Year, Pongal and the Medical Camp.
Every one expressed their satisfaction with regard to the preparation and the success of all the three-fold celebrations. We will affirm with one voice that the Tamil New Year and the Pongal celebration infused in the personality of everyone attended, the culture and heritage of Indian state Tamil Nadu. The participation and involvement of our DOVE Home children, women organizations and youth wing helped our mission and vision to reach far and wide of Tamil Nadu State and India.
The afternoon medical camp was well attended beyond our expectation from villages near and around our project area. Two members shared the opinion of few participants of the camp to conduct this type of medical camps very often and to establish a hospital in the vicinity. The Members are pleased to hear that positive views from the public and it is well taken care off for the benefit of the project families and their children. The proposal and the need of the people was accepted by all the People Behind DOVE and authorized by the president to proceed further to find all the resources to realize the expectation of the medically marginalized community.
As the schools reopens after the pandemic COVID-19, a report, regarding the sanitation of the building, furniture and surroundings of the DOVE Home, in accordance with the guide lines of the Health Ministry of Tamil Nadu was presented and submitted to the Board chaired by the president Reverent Father Leon.
Just to help the families, particularly having in mind the children in those families, DOVE decided to provide life support to twenty-six families around Kommadikottai panchayath, at Thoothukudi civil district. Those families are carefully chosen based on certain criterions like single parented, abandoned by the partners, low income, unemployed, daily workers, irrespective of caste or creed.
Our life support includes rice, dal, oil and groceries worth Rs.2000 and it will be delivered to them, right at their houses on the 3rd Feb. by DOVE (Development Of Village Education) team, headed by Rev. Joseph Leon, the president, DOVE.
